Jabu, the organisation\u2019s leadership, and the entire team is composed of trans, lesbian, and intersex persons. Iranti is an African regional organisation that involves media and documentation in its advocacy. Jabu stepped down as Founding Director in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/transintersexhistory.africa\/the-first-african-intersex-organisation-formed-south-africa\/\"><strong>Intersex Society South Africa (ISSA)<\/strong><\/a><\/em>, founded and run by Sally Gross until her passing, underwent a \u201cmake-over\u201d and was housed at Iranti <a href=\"https:\/\/transintersexhistory.africa\/2000-the-first-african-intersex-organisation-formed-by-sally-gross-south-africa\/\">until 2023<\/a>. Other trans and intersex-specific programmes include documenting and advocacy regarding trans health and access to medical care, and advocacy around the World Health Organization (WHO)\u2019s ICD-10.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Iranti is a Johannesburg-based media-advocacy organisation which advocates for the rights of LGBTI+ persons, with specific focus on lesbian, transgender (including gender non-conforming) and intersex persons in Africa. Iranti works within a human rights framework raising issues on gender identities, and sexuality, through the strategic use of multimedia storytelling, research and activism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Iranti is an organisation by and for trans, lesbian and intersex persons and was formed with the clear intention of building strategic partnerships and movements that use media as a key platform for critical engagement, mobilisation, capacity development, reframing of perceptions, and advocacy interventions across Africa.
