The organisation was initially under the umbrella of the NGO <a href=\"https:\/\/map.eannaso.org\/listing\/stop-aids-in-liberia\/\">Stop AIDS in Liberia (SAIL)<\/a>. When TNOL sought registration status as a legal entity in order to rent office space, open a bank account, and apply for funding at the Liberia Business Registry, their application was rejected for the reason that the organisation&#8217;s activities are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrw.org\/report\/2013\/12\/03\/its-nature-not-crime\/discriminatory-laws-and-lgbt-people-liberia\">illegal in the country<\/a>. Furthermore, when delivering the application in person, the activists met with transphobic discrimination and were detained for 3 hours. While in detention, people who entered the detention area took photos of the activists and also made discriminatory remarks, such as \u201cThey should be placed in a cell to die\u201d, and \u201cThey should be killed for not accepting the body God gave them\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-pink-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-e3d052a198d5e0089b8c5df3597779db wp-block-paragraph\">There are currently no contact details for TNOL.
