Civil Application 263 of 2014, filed on 10 July 2014, calling it premature, as the medical board had formed a task force to advise the Ministry of Health on the development of guidelines on the management of \u201ctranssexualism\u201d*. TEA was ordered to pay the state\u2019s legal fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The case was brought against the medical board as TEA&#8217;a Audrey Mbugua argued that the Board had failed to develop National Guidelines for the Management of Gender Identity Disorders**. Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/kenyalaw.org\/caselaw\/cases\/view\/105454\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-pink-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1ce85f62b2f3550a12316b04c86a65e0 wp-block-paragraph\">* &#8220;Transsexualism&#8221; is a medical term, outdated in many countries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-pink-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-bb60dddca42db3a12f19353fb0b417e3 wp-block-paragraph\">** &#8220;Gender Identity Disorder&#8221; is no longer a term used in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), since 2013.
