raise awareness on intersex conditions and build a strong resilient intersex community that has voice and agency.

The organisation’s core business is to champion the rights of intersex persons, raise awareness and recognition on intersex issues and rights, lobby and advocate for inclusion as well as an end to genital mutilation.

IAZ also offers psychosocial support and care to children and adults born intersex and those living with HIV.

IAZ has also vested interests in focusing on intersex children abandoned by parents in different health facilities in the Matabeleland provinces including Bulawayo metropolitan province.

Over the past years, IAZ’s programming has evolved to include designing interventions to reach out to parents and other caregivers of intersex children and persons as well as the society at large.

Some of the activities have seen the organisation providing a wide range of sexual and reproductive health and rights-based information.

The organisation also runs project activities targeting school teachers, religious institutions, health care providers, traditional leaders and healers and medical practitioners through sensitisation, anti-stigma and discrimination campaigns to further protect the SRHR of intersex persons.

Their ultimate mission is to work towards achieving equality, inclusion and justice for the intersex persons in Zimbabwe through advocacy and collaborative
