She accused the plain-clothes officer, Constable Kavari, of throwing her into a police vehicle outside a fast-food restaurant in Windhoek. She further claimed that he punched and kicked her, and called her a &#8216;moffie&#8217; (Afrikaans for homosexual). The incident was caught on CCTV cameras. Von Cloete&#8217;s lawyer argued that she was the victim of a hate crime and that she was targeted because she is transgender. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TheNamibian\/status\/1459084634201985025?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1459084634201985025%7Ctwgr%5E23452253b60eff2e97d6f87e184ec8a1dd37a74e%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mambaonline.com%2F%2F2021%2F11%2F12%2Fnamibia-transgender-woman-wins-police-abuse-case%2F\">an interview after her victory<\/a>, Von Cloete said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f6952a132d917c5b0886f5ceb31f508b\">\u201c[The judgement] has made me a little more optimistic and hopeful that justice does, in fact, exist in Namibia.
