Gender DynamiX and the Groote Schuur Hospital’s Multidisciplinary Transgender Clinic collaborated in their efforts to submit a bid to WPATH to host the 2018 International conference. Gender DynamiX was the first African and South African organisation that became a member of WPATH and has been a member since 2007. Since GDX and The Support Initiative for People with atypical sex Development (SIPD) worked together on various projects, SIPD too became a member of WPATH in 2010. Uganda was therefore the second country on the continent, to have an organisation that is a member of WPATH.
