Transgender, Intersex, Transsexuals (TIT) Uganda was established, by founder Nikilas (Nikki) Mawanda with a focus on advocating for the rights of transgender, intersex and transsexual persons in Uganda.
The birth of TITs came as a result of Victor Mukasa, Nikki Mawanda, Julius Kaggwa, and Pepe Onziema Julian along with others, whose names are withheld, having a very important meeting on 31 December, in Uganda. This meeting followed the ARC International meeting earlier in December 2007, to establish the beginning of a formal Uganda trans and intersex initiative. The idea of TITs (Transgender, Intersex, and Transsexuals) was born, and would later translate into vibrant trans and intersex activism as seen today.
Shortly after their establishment TIT Uganda reached out to Gender DynamiX with their 2008 – 2009 Work Plan and Strategy, to request from GDX to demonstrate any possible support. GDX complied and submitted support letters to funders.
