Global Action for Trans Equality (GATE) organized the first of its kind, international trans and intersex advocacy meeting with participants from all regions and all continents in Barcelona, Spain. The meeting consists of two parts; June 1- 3 was the Trans* Action = Trans* Rights pre-conference, followed by the International Congress on Gender Identity and Human Rights from June 4 to 6. While this platform created the ideal space for Gabrielle le Roux and the participants of the “Proudly African” project space for live art where Gabrielle drew some of the trans and intersex activists from Africa in a live setting. It is also profound to note, that this was the first time the participants of the project could experience their drawings in a public setting on exhibition as it was safer to hold such an exhibition in a neutral space and not on African soil.
