SIPD & GDX decided to relook ways of doing the exchange program from 2012 onwards upon realising the activists excelled and progressed beyond the current format. The dynamic changed sooner than anticipated by Liesl and Julius, as it became evident that the greatest value that the Exchange Program could contribute, was to create a platform and provide a physical space for the activists as the exchange in the learning was by now totally collective and participatory. It moved beyond a series of “training” sessions. It became real movement building-in-action.
