Auntie Tiwonge and Steven Monjeza were sentenced to 14 years of hard labor for publicly celebrating their relationship the previous year.  However, President Mutharika reversed this decision after a meeting with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, and gave the couple a full pardon.
