Julius Kaggwa started the first informal intersex support group in Uganda, which would later become the foundation for the forming of the organization Support Initiative for People with atypical sex Development (SIPD).

The support group, similar to SIPD aimed at providing support to intersex persons and parents of intersex children and infants, which was housed by the coalition of Christian children’s rights organizations.
