October 2010 — Eastern and Southern African Trans and Intersex Regional Exchange Programme Joins the Stop Trans Pathologization (STP2012) Campaign, Eastern and Southern Africa

In October 2010, the Eastern and Southern African Trans and Intersex Regional Exchange Programme, launched in May 2010 by South Africa’s Gender DynamiX (GDX) and Uganda’s Initiative de soutien aux personnes présentant un développement sexuel atypique (SIPD), joined the Stop Trans Pathologization (STP2012) Campaign, a campaign advocating for the depathologisation of trans identities (transsexual and transgender) and their retirement from the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders — 4 (DSM-4).

The Exchange Programme’s submission to the Campaign consisted of a video clip produced by Robert Hamblin with quotes from Eastern and Southern African activists.
