In September 2016, Isaac Mwaura, a Kenyan Parliamentarian, wanted the Kenyan Parliament to pass the option of a third gender into Kenyan law in order to legally recognise intersex people. Mwaura also asked for public funding for gender-affirming surgeries and a public awareness campaign to end the stigmatisation of intersex people. Read more here.
