The TIHA website has already recorded organisations and stories from 21 countries in Africa and a few more that represent regional and African Diaspora voices. Our reach is currently 43% of African countries.

Are you or your organisation from one of the 21 countries whose histories we don’t currently represent? We are looking for you!

The countries currently represented are Angola , Benin , Botswana , Burundi , Cameroon , Democratic Republic of Congo , Guinea , Ivory Coast , Kenya , Lesotho , Liberia , Malawi , Morocco , Mozambique , Namibia , Nigeria , Somalia , South Africa , Tanzania , Togo , Uganda , Zambia and Zimbabwe .

We would like you to include your first hand telling of the stories of trans and intersex history in Africa and in the Diaspora. We always welcome stories and contributions from any African country, so feel free to reach out to us.

The current phase of the TIHA project is focused on stories between 1950 and 2023.
