20 December 2024 — Founding of Haven of Pride Africa, South Africa
Founded on 20 December 2024 by Frank Fabian Kagimu, Noah Venter and Rethabile Lebakeng, Haven of Pride Africa came about as a response to the growing crisis faced by LGBTQI+ displaced persons, particularly trans asylum seekers and refugees from Uganda and the broader East African region who flee their home countries due to persecution, seeking safety in South Africa, only to face new challenges in their pursuit of protection, dignity, and self-reliance. Recognising this urgent need, Haven of Pride was established to provide critical support, advocacy, and empowerment for LGBTQI+ asylum seekers and refugees.

Vision
A world where transgender refugees and queer displaced persons live freely and safely, with access to essential resources, acceptance and equality supported by a trusted community.
Mission
To provide safety, dignity, and empowerment for displaced transgender individuals by fostering inclusive support for their health and rights amidst persecution.

Goals
- To provide safe shelter and support.
- To promote well-being and self-sufficiency.
