The Matrix Support Group (MSG), also known as the People’s Matrix Association, was established in Lesotho in 2008. Although the NGO caters to the whole LGBTIQ+ community throughout Lesotho, they have a strong trans presence. Their founder and Executive Director, Tampose Mothopeng, is a trans man. They run a number of trans-specific programmes and research projects, such as the research project Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Health Needs Assessment in Lesotho, conducted in 2014. The organisation acquired its legal recognition in 2010 under the national Societies’ Act of 1966 and got re-registered in 2015.
