2015 — Fondation de Synergy Intersex Voice (SIV), Bénin / Founding of Synergy Intersex Voice (SIV), Benin

Fondée au Bénin en 2015 par Jude Akintola et trois autres militants (dont les noms sont tenus secrets pour des raisons de sécurité), Synergy Intersex Voice (SIV)s’adresse principalement aux personnes intersexes vivant au Bénin et en Afrique de l’Ouest, ainsi qu’aux allié·e·s œuvrant pour la reconnaissance, la visibilité et les droits humains des personnes intersexes.

SIV travaille à la visibilité, la protection et l’autonomisation des personnes intersexes à travers :

la sensibilisation du public et des institutions sur les réalités intersexes ;
le renforcement des capacités communautaires ;
la création d’espaces sûrs pour le partage et le bien-être des personnes intersexes ;
la plaidoyer pour la reconnaissance légale et sociale des personnes intersexes.

Founded in Benin in 2015 by Jude Akintola and three other activists (whose names are withheld for safety reasons), Synergy Intersex Voice (SIV) is primarily aimed at intersex people living in Benin and West Africa, as well as allies working for the recognition, visibility and human rights of intersex people. They are in the process of registering the organisation.

SIV works to increase the visibility, protection, and empowerment of intersex people through:

raising public and institutional awareness of intersex realities;
building community capacity;
creating safe spaces for the sharing and well-being of intersex people;
advocating for the legal and social recognition of intersex people.

Promouvoir la visibilité, la protection des droits et le bien-être des personnes intersexes à travers la sensibilisation, l’éducation, le plaidoyer et la solidarité communautaire.

Lutter contre la stigmatisation et la discrimination envers les personnes intersexes.
Créer des espaces sûrs d’échange et de soutien.
Renforcer les capacités des personnes intersexes pour leur autonomisation.
Promouvoir la reconnaissance juridique et sociale des variations intersexes.
Favoriser la collaboration entre les organisations locales et internationales.
