2016 — Founding of TransSwati, Eswatini (Swaziland)
Founded in 2016 by Pinty Dludlu, TransSwati is a non-profit organisation providing services to the trans and gender non-conforming community. Officially registered in May 2018, TransSwati was born due to the lack of trans community representation in programmatic activities in the development sector in Eswatini (formerly Swaziland). A young feminist group, TransSwati works towards fighting social stigma faced by the trans and gender non-conforming community.

Vision
To create a future where all transgender and gender non-conforming individuals have equitable access to public services, are free from stigmatisation and feel safe and secure in a Swazi society.
Mission
To improve the livelihood of transgender and gender non-conforming individuals across Eswatini through intersectional approach to advocacy and programmatic activities that target health, law enforcement, education, economic empowerment, culture, religion and wider social attitudes.


Areas of Work
The organisation is dedicated to supporting transgender people and advocating for their rights. TransSwati believes that everyone deserves to live their life authentically and without fear of discrimination or violence. The organisation is dedicated to providing resources and support to transgender individuals and their families, as well as to educate the public about transgender issues. Specific areas of work include:
- Healthcare: TransSwati provides resources and support for transgender individuals and their families.
- Education: TransSwati provides education and raises awareness about transgender issues in eSwatini.
- Counselling: TransSwati provides support and counselling for people exploring their gender identities.
