Formed in 2019 by member organisations of the West African Trans Forum (WATF) and other organisations, the Independent Trans Networks of Central Africa (RITAC — Réseau Indépendant des Trans d’Afrique Centrale), based in Yaoundé, Cameroon, envisions a Central Africa where trans identity is recognised and freely experienced. RITAC and WATF are implementing partners in several projects across West and Central Africa. RITAC is an association which has 22 members across Central Africa, including 10 organisations and 12 activists.
Areas of Work
RITAC
- contributes to improving the living conditions of trans people through its Member Associations (MA) in Central Africa
- strengthens the leadership and structuring of Member Associations
- carries out capacity building for leaders of trans organisations
- documents the violence against trans people in Central Africa through Member Associations
- provides grant mini-grants to Member Associations for the implementation of actions in favour of trans people.
