Trans Arrivals Kenya (TAK) was founded in 2022. TAK supports trans migrants, asylum seekers, and refugees in Kenya.

A safe and inclusive society where all trans refugees live with dignity, free from discrimination and harm.
Mission
To empower and protect trans refugees by ensuring access to safe housing, mental health support, HIV care, and fundamental resources.

Areas of Work
Main areas of work
TAK primarily works to support trans migrants, asylum seekers, and refugees in Kenya by addressing their unique challenges and advocating for their rights in the following areas:
Humanitarian support and emergency assistance
- Providing safe shelter for trans migrants facing homelessness or violence.
- Offering food, clothing, and other essential supplies to those in crisis.
Legal assistance and advocacy
- Supporting trans migrants with asylum applications, legal documentation, and protection from discrimination.
- Advocating for policy changes that recognise and protect trans asylum seekers and refugees.
Healthcare and well-being
- Connecting trans individuals with gender-affirming healthcare, mental health support, and HIV/AIDS services.
- Offering counseling and peer support to help individuals cope with trauma and discrimination.
Economic empowerment and skills development
- Providing vocational training and entrepreneurship programmes to help trans migrants achieve financial independence.
- Creating employment opportunities through partnerships with inclusive businesses and organisations.
Community building and awareness raising
- Creating safe spaces where trans migrants can connect, support each other, and build a sense of belonging.
- Conducting awareness campaigns and training sessions to educate service providers and the public on trans rights and issues.

- Provide support for individuals navigating Kenya’s healthcare system.

Community building and peer support
