Media by Intersexions
In this educational video, intersex activist Lungile Peaceworth Maquba, decides to take a creative approach to provide insight into their own experiences of accessing healthcare services in South Africa. The video depicts a dialogue between two different characters that represent an internal dialogue with their own thoughts and two aspects of their own personality. One character is encouraging the other to go and see a doctor because they have been avoiding it. The other character expresses fear and hesitancy, because they are afraid of being discriminated against, or made to feel embarrassed by healthcare workers if they decide to go to the doctor. This video was created to educate healthcare workers on the experiences of intersex people seeking access to healthcare in South African healthcare facilities.
