The first part of the Eastern and Southern African Trans and Intersex Regional Exchange Programme, hosted by Gender DynamiX (GDX) and a partner organisation from East Africa, was launched in Namibia. It was with great excitement that the 16 activists met, and there was a very energetic buzz in the room, as participants had great expectations of the Programme. Invited by the University of Namibia in Windhoek, the activists were to make a presentation to the students of Professor Immaculate Mogotsi at the Multidisciplinary Research Centre as part of the Programme. The Programme also included a site visit to the organisation Sister Namibia
During this inaugural exchange, the group worked on the first draft of the HIV & Transgender Identity Position Paper, focusing on the inclusion and autonomy of research framed in an MSM/WSW (men having sex with men/women having sex with women) context.
